The Peninsula hotels group has announced that it will be opening The Peninsula Tokyo on the 1st of September this year.

Known for their superb accommodation and style, Peninsula Hotels have been a popular choice for short-term stays for quite some time. According to their parent company, the Peninsula Tokyo will be the first free-standing luxury hotel built in this densely populated city in over a decade.

The hotel will be situated in the district of Marunouchi which is reportedly fast becoming one of Tokyo’s most fashionable areas and this has attracted outlets for many luxury brands.

The Peninsula Tokyo will have all the same characteristics as the other Peninsula’s, including the pageboys who welcome guests on their arrival, as well as the classic Rolls Royce’s, which are available if guests need to travel. The décor is Japanese in style, with 60 artists (90% Japanese) contributing pieces. I really like the look of the interior that they show on their website.

The Peninsula Tokyo will offer every kind of luxury to its guests and with everyone looking for a bit of space in this very crowded city, it might well become one of the most popular luxury hotels in the area.

I would love to hear comments from regular travelers to Japan – would you be interested in visiting the hotel? Does is make a difference that the building is free-standing?
