Luxury in business class flying continues to rise

Posted on 30 Jul in Transport with 2 comments

United Airlines has introduced their new Business class cabins, which offer complete lie-flat seats - a first for a U.S airline.

Although luxury in business class is no new thing, airlines are competing to offer the best services, as clients' demands continue to grow. These new lie-flat seats from United Airlines recline to a 180 degree angle, and stretch to six foot.  The seats are designed to maximise personal space as well as privacy. In addition to these seats, the cabins will also have 15-inch video screens and more than 150 hours of viewing pleasure.

The screens will also have iPod adapters in order for customers to personalise their listening and viewing experiences. These cabins are being upgraded to a standard that will serve to maximise the comfort of the traveller.

It seems that with the rise of technology, frequent flyers are also rising their demands for luxury on flights. The competition is getting quite fierce between airlines in their bid to offer the best first-class service. I like the look of these fold-down seats/beds and my only question is: when are they going to start bringing the luxury to economy class? I think the first airline to do this will quickly reap the rewards. What do you think?

I think you are definately onto something there. I paid 50% more for a premium economy flight on BA in June. Only to find that there was hardly a difference. I think considering the amount of money you are paying its a terrible offering and service.
