The Peninsula hotels group has announced that it will be opening The Peninsula Tokyo on the 1st of September this year.

Known for their superb accommodation and style, Peninsula Hotels have been a popular choice for short-term stays for quite some time. According to their parent company, the Peninsula Tokyo will be the first free-standing luxury hotel built in this densely populated city in over a decade.

The hotel will be situated in the district of Marunouchi which is reportedly fast becoming one of Tokyo’s most fashionable areas and this has attracted outlets for many luxury brands.

New Jumeirah Hotel London

Building set to be ready in time for 2012 Olympics

Jumeirah is set to build a new luxury Jumeirah Hotel at the planned Beetham Tower on London's Southbank. The Beetham Tower will be a 180 meter high, slender glass landmark standing next to the Thames River.

The planned observation deck of the hotel will be 45 meters higher than the well-known London Eye and promises spectacular views over the river and the city. This is not Jumeirah's first project in London, as they already manage the Jumeirah Carlton Tower and the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.  The hotel will offer 261 luxury rooms and suites, as well as a ballroom and other smaller venues which could be used for meetings and events.

The owners of the Glenskirlie House in Scotland are in the process of building the first castle to be erected in this century. It is being built as a luxury hotel and wedding venue.

The Glenskirlie House Restaurant has been in business for the last 20-odd years and now the owners have decided to build a modern-day castle adjacent to the original building. The hotel will offer 15 individual luxury rooms and will have honeymoon suites with four-poster beds and turreted bathrooms. There will also be a private dining area for guests to enjoy a private meal the day after the wedding. The castle will be set in lush gardens in the village of Banknock, Stirling and will also have a purpose-built function room with a separate bar which will serve smaller functions.

Spanish company Hotel Movil has introduced a new concept to the world of pop-up retail with their pop-up hotels. These large truck trailers can be dragged to any location and then turned into a hotel within 30 minutes.

These two-level hotels consist of 11 rooms and can sleep up to forty people. This means that they can also be used for wedding parties, reunions and even luxury camping trips. Contrary to what you might think, these hotels are quite luxurious on the inside, providing ensuite bathrooms, plasma screen, dvd players and internet access for each room.
